Design and build the first page of a responsive blogazine which caters to Seattle’s locavore movement. The demographic is young professionals, aged 24-40, who see themselves as “foodies” with a bent toward sustainability. The blog should function as a hub for the locavore community, with both curated and user generated content.
I first conducted research into the locavore movement, to learn more about the community, the information they were seeking and the way they navigated the web. I also did structural analysis of blogazine sites to determine best practices.
Seattlevore works to build a community by acting as a hub for local events, encouraging social sharing, discussions and user submissions. Typography and color, balanced with white space, are used to create hierarchy within the site to create an easy to navigate platform for the user.
